Miss World 2011

Miss Venezuela Aivien Sarkos at Earls Court on Sunday evening in a grand ceremony was crowned Miss World 2011.

Beauties come from different parts of the world left behind more than 100 diamonds, making it the 21-year-old Sarkos crown is achieved. He became the 61st winner of the Miss World competition.
Miss Philippines Gvendolain Rus first runner up - Miss Puerto Rico and Amanda Perez became the second runner - up was.
The opportunity presented by the UK dance group Diversity. Sarkos crowned Miss World 2010 Elecjendraia Mills.
Winners of the competition judges, former Miss World Cindy Breakspeare (1976), Nigeria Agbeni Derego (2001), Zhang Jilin (2007) and Kenny Eldorino (2009) included. Miss India World pinky top of the wealth tax competition could not make it to 25 participants.

'special' Liz Hurley work

Shane Warne has vowed to make his relationship with Hollywood celebrity Elizabeth Hurley work despite the vast distance involved.

The former Australian cricketer and the actress have decided to spend more time getting to know their respective families before they tie the knot.

While Warne has three children, Hurley has a son who goes to boarding school when she is filming in New York.
The sportsman admits that they face a challenge organising their schedules, but he is determined to make the relationship last, because the romance is so "special".
"For me, in my life at the moment, I'm in a really good place. My number one priority is my children and that's the most important thing - and my new family too, Elizabeth and her son Damian, and vice-versa. I'm in a great space personally... and probably the happiest I've ever been... For the first time in my life, I'm really comfortable where I'm at," the Daily Express quoted the former spinner as saying.
"There will be a fair bit of travelling involved but when you've got something that is as special as what Elizabeth and I have, it's worth a bit of a challenging schedule," he added.

3rd ODI at Mohali

Onathan Trott has scored his half-century as well and is looking confident in the middle. He will eventually have to step on the accelerator because his strike rate at the moment is 68.29 and for England to post a score of 310-320, too many dot balls are a luxury they can't afford especially with the batting powerplay coming up. Ravi Bopara has had his nervy moments but he has managed to hit a couple of well-timed boundaries.

Umesh Yadav is working up some serious pace and has also managed to bowl the slower deliveries every now and then. India's bowlers have done well as a unit so far.
Jonathan Trott and Kevin Pietersen put together an important 101-run partnership for England.
4.25pm: Pietersen and Trott added 101 runs for the third wicket in quick time. Pietersen was the dominant partner and was hitting the ball really well and looked set to break his century drought in ODIs but that wait continues as he was just trapped in front by Ravindra Jadeja after scoring a well-made 61-ball 64. Pietersen was disappointed with the decision and quite rightly so for he had taken a long stride and the ball hit him on the knee roll. Remember KP is a tall bloke and that was a brave decision from the umpire. Trott now needs to be there until the end of the innings while Ravi Bopara will need to give him good support.
4.05pm: Just when India's fielding is being appreciated, there occurs an embarrassing incident. There was an awful mix-up between Pietersen and Trott but an atrocious throw from Kohli saved

Good time for Pietersen to play an innings of substance and treat each delivery on its merit.
3.55pm: Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott are putting together an impressive partnership for England with the former especially batting brilliantly. Pietersen hasn't been at his best in the 50-over format in recent times and he really needs to carry on not only for himself but also for his team. It's a joy to watch Pietersen bat when he is on song.
Craig Kieswetter played well for his 36 runs before being bowled by Virat Kohli.
3.30pm: India's first change bowler Virat Kohli gives the hosts the second breakthrough as Kieswetter chops a ball on to his leg stump. The ball swung in but Kieswetter should really have been on the front foot. Dhoni's confidence in Kohli the bowler has paid off.
3.22pm: Craig Kieswetter has launched an impressive counter-attack in the last three-four overs hitting three boundaries and two massive sixes. At the other end, Jonathan Trott has been his solid self. Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar did well in the first 10 overs for the most part and India's fielding has also been impressive. Most of England's runs so far have been scored on the leg side.
2:45pm: It’s that man again, Vinay Kumar, who is making life difficult for England as he traps Cook plumb in front. Vinay had said the new ball rule is making life easier for the fast bowlers and he is certainly taking advantage of this rule change. Cook, who has found runs hard to come by so far on this tour, wasn’t happy with the decision and he could have had a point there as the ball may have struck him a touch high. But, the umpire felt he was out and it’s his opinion that matters!

Toss: Alastair Cook has won the toss and elected to bat at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. Both the teams are unchanged, that means Ian Bell still sits out for England and Varun Aaron’s wait for his international debut continues.
Certainly is a remarkable show of faith in the players by Cook and Andy Flower, but it is a surprise that a player of Bell’s caliber is on the bench. England’s middle-order looks fragile without him. The dew factor may affect Graeme Swann’s bowling in the evening.

PDP trying

Asserting he had done nothing wrong, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of trying to influence the eye-witnesses of the death of National Conference worker Sayeed Muhammad Yousuf.

'Yousuf was a crook and I dealt with him transparently,' Omar Abdullah told news channel NDTV, but added 'nobody even touched Yousuf with a finger' while he was at the chief minister's residence.
He also said Yousuf died of a heart attack 12 hours after visiting his residence.
Accusing the PDP led by former chief minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed of trying to influence the eye-witnesses to make them speak against the NC and its leaders, Omar Abdullah denied the PDP allegations that Yousuf was very close to the chief minister and his father, former chief minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
'Yousuf was only as close to our family as any other NC worker.'
Yousuf had been summoned to the chief minister's residence here Sep 29 along with two other NC workers, Abdul Salam Rishi of Akingam (Kokernag) and Muhammad Yusuf Bhat of Ganderbal, who alleged Sayeed had taken Rs.1.18 crore from them for getting one a minister's berth and the other a legislator's seat.
Rishi has raked up a huge controversy by his disclosures that Yousuf had been taken to a room at the chief minister's residence for nearly half an hour, after which he came out but was 'visibly unwell'.
Rishi also told media that Yousuf had told the chief minister that the amount he had taken from Bhat (Rs.85 lakh) had been given by him to Farooq Abdullah.
The chief minister, however, admitted that Rishi had informed him about two months back that he had paid money to Yousuf.
'It is only human... It slipped off my mind. I forgot to take immediate action.'
'I am not losing sleep and have no regrets for handling the situation the way I did,' Omar maintained.
The chief minister said he was eager for the judicial probe to start quickly so that the truth is brought to light.
The state government has requested the chief justice of the state high court to spare a sitting judge to probe Yousuf's death.
The chief minister also denied the incident had any connection with the transfer of some police officers detailed on his security on the day he summoned the three NC workers to his residence.
'Their transfers were routine,' Omar asserted.
Meanwhile, refuting the allegations that the PDP was in close touch with the eye-witnesses to influence them, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti criticised both New Delhi and the state government.
'New Delhi has double standards. He (Omar) seems to get away with it. He has acted with highhandedness and now puts the blame on PDP,' she said here.
'As if Mehbooba Mufti did something to the person and he died,' she said.

Affair Of Sajid's Korean

Yash Chopra made Switzerland the famous honeymoon destination for newlyweds in India, Sajid Nadiadwala has decided to make Korea as attractive.

The filmmaker known for shooting his films in exotic foreign locales, starting from HEYY BABYY in 2007 to the forthcoming HOUSEFULL 2, has tied up with the Korean Tourism Board to help promote the country through his upcoming ventures.
The idea was born on Sajid's recent trip to Korea. Having received an invite from the President of the Korean Tourism Organization, the filmmaker and his team travelled to the country. "Sajid met the officials there to discuss possibilities of a tie-up between his banner Nadiadwala Grandsons Entertainment and the Korean Tourism Board. The Korean Government expressed their interest in his films and said that they would like to promote their country through Bollywood," informed a source.
When contacted Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed the news and said, "It's a huge achievement for NGE. We've explored some really good places in Korea like Seoul, Busan and Jeju Island. It's a beautiful country."

Bollywood in mourning

Amitabh Bachchan, Kabir Bedi, Karan Johar and Rahul Bose are among the Bollywood twitterati who have mourned the loss of lives in Sikkim, which was hit by a powerful earthquake that left at least 23 people dead and 200 injured.

The earthquake Sunday evening, which originated along the border of the hilly northeastern state with Nepal, has claimed at least 35 lives.
Bollywood celebrities took to social networking site Twitter to share their sentiments:

Golden Temple

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar who is co-producing an upcoming film 'Speedy Singhs' visited the Golden Temple in India's northern Punjab state along with the cast and crew seeking blessings for his first cross-border venture.Talking to mediapersons, Kumar said that he decided to produce the film after being impressed with the script of the film. Elaborating on the story line, he said it is essentially about ice-hockey and also reflects the mindset of an Indian family in Canada.

BT Brinjal

It will be a delectable dish of mammoth proportions but with a message -- 500 kg of 'baingan ka bharta' will be cooked Tuesday to protest against a proposed move to approve genetically modified crops, including the brinjal.
Thousands of activists will gather at Dilli Haat in south Delhi to participate in cooking the baingan ka bharta to protest passage of the Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India (BRAI) bill, which if enacted, is expected to allow easy approval of genetically modified (GM) crops such as Bt brinjal.
'Thousands of activists, volunteers, citizens groups, civil society organisations, Le Meridian chefs and the Indian Culinary Forum will participate in the event,' said Kapil Mishra, an official of Greenpeace India, which is organising the event.
'We will also offer a plate of the dish to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. We will take a plate to his residence after the event with a message, 'If the BRAI bill is on, this will be the last GM free baingan bharta you will eat',' said an official.
Greenpeace officials claim this record to be the first of its kind.
Volunteers will use 300 kg of brinjal and 200 kg of other ingredients, said Mishra, adding, only organic ingredients will be used.
?Through this event we want to spread the message that Indians should say no to GM food and BRAI bill as GM food is very dangerous for health,? Mishra said.
The bharta will be distributed to various orphanages and NGOs.
Greenpeace will also submit before the prime minister a petition signed by thousands, to stop the BRAI bill.

Girl Found Abandoned

A newborn baby girl was found abandoned by the roadside in Pali district in Rajasthan - the latest such incident in a state where the sex ratio is terribly skewed.
Police said Sunday the baby was found abandoned in Bidi Paldi village near Sumerpur area of Pali district, some 300 km from state capital Jaipur.
The baby has been admitted to hospital in critical condition.
The unidentified baby, who was born prematurely, was found Saturday evening by a group of pilgrims.
?The baby was crying loudly. The pilgrims informed the police following which she was taken to hospital in an ambulance. We have registered a case against unidentified persons and launched investigations,? a police officer told IANS.
Many recent instances of baby girls being left abandoned have been reported in the state.
In August, a nine-month-old baby girl was found on the doorstep of a children's home in Jodhpur with a note in English from the parents saying that they are going out of town and would return to claim her in a couple of months.
In July, a newborn girl was found abandoned in a railway crossing control room in Dungarpur district.
Similarly, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in Rajasthan's Ganganagar district in January. The baby died later in hospital.
According to Census 2011, Rajasthan has 883 girls between the age of 0-6 for every 1,000 boys. The child sex ratio in 2001 was 909.
Alarmed at the skewed sex ratio, the state government recently announced steps to curb prenatal sex determination tests at ultrasound clinics.
The steps include increasing the number of health department inspection teams and equipping them with devices, such as hidden cameras and voice recorders.
The state government has also increased the amount of money given to anyone who complains about ultrasound clinics carrying out such tests.
